Dreamscape Basics

Welcome to Dreamscape

When you log in for the first time, you'll be in an area called the hatchery. You'll get some basic information on how to get around inworld, and get to practice some commonly used actions. Please take the time to read the information and follow the instructions here. At the bottom of the page there are links to more information and resources.

The Hatchery

This is where you will begin. Read the text at the top of the client window and follow the instructions. The text will repeat, and you can also use the scroll bars at the side of the upper text window to re-read the information.

To get to the next locale, you'll click on the door and choose Pass through. You'll then be in the locale shown below. You'll learn how to put things in your pocket and how to get things out of containers.

Next, you'll go back through the door and onto the deck.

The locale below is where you will choose the body you would like to have.

In the locale below, you will learn how to use an ATM, and you will get to choose the head you would like your avatar to start with. Once you get inworld, there are more choices for heads

In the locale below, you can choose a name for your avatar.

When you exit to the right from the locale above, you'll be in one last room. If you'd like to go through all the tasks above again, exit the client and relog in and you'll start the process all over.

Once you have completed all these tasks, you are ready to enter the world. Click on the door at the back of the locale and choose Pass Through. Once you do this you will enter the Welcome Center. If there is a Welcomer on duty, they will greet you and help you get started.

If there is no Welcomer on duty when you arrive, don't worry, you can still get assistance. Click on the Help menu at the top of the client window and choose Page Acolyte. This will send an automatic message to the Acolyte on duty. Acolytes are staff members who are here to assist members.

If you do page a Acolyte you will see a message in white in the top text area of the window that says Page sent. Shortly after that you will get a message from the Acolyte or Oracle on duty greeting you and asking how they may help you. To answer them you will send what is called an ESP. On the toolbar on the bottom of the window click the button on the right on the very bottom. You will see a small text box with a drop down arrow and a larger text box. Click on the drop down arrow and select the name of the person who answered your page (the name will start with either Acolyte or Oracle if it is response to a page.) In the second text box type your question and press enter. This will send a private message to them and they will then assist you.
