  Macintosh Download and Installation

The Macintosh VZones software is a Classic Application. Your computer must have the ability to run Mac OS8 or Mac OS9 (either natively or in Classic mode)

Note for users of Intel Macs or any Mac running Leopard (OS 10.5 and above):
Classic (Mac OS9) is not supported on Intel Macs or in Leopard. If you are on an Intel Mac or running Leopard you must be able to run Windows and download and install the Windows client. Intel Macs can use Boot Camp or Parallels to run Windows. G4 and G5 Macs running Leopard can use VirtualPC to run Windows.

Download and Installation

Note: If you are running OS X and using Classic, make sure Classic is running before running the installer program.

1.    Click the icon above to download the installer and save the file to your desktop.

2.    Locate the file you downloaded on your desktop (it will look like the icon above) and double-click it.

The installer will put the application in a folder named vzones on the root level of your hard drive. (The root level is the list of files and folders you see if you double-click your hard drive's icon on your desktop.) You can leave it there if you like, or you can move it to your Applications folder. If you do move it, make note of where you put it. If you are running OS8 or OS9 (natively, not in Classic mode) you may want to make an alias of the vzones application program and put it on your desktop to make entry into worlds easier.

Running the Program

To enter worlds, you need to first use your browser to login. Use the appropriate login page for your specific world.

newHorizone Login Page        Dreamscape Login Page

When you reach the page, enter your account name and password and click Login. On the next page, click on the Avatar name you want to log in.

At this point you will be downloading a file named worldLogin.pl. How this file is handled depends on whether you are running natively or in Classic.

If you are running OS8 or OS9 natively, download the file to your desktop. When the file downloads, drag the worldLogin.pl file on top of the vzones application file (or the alias of it) and the program will start and you'll be inworld.

If you are running Classic, the easiest way to login is by using the Firefox browser. When you click on the avatar you want logged in Firefox will ask you what you want to do with the downloaded file. You can choose to have it always open with the vzones application program. From this point on, whenever you log in, it will automatically start the vzones program for you. Safari will download the file to your computer. Once the file is downloaded you can either control-click or right-click the file and choose Open with, then navigate to where the vzones file is and click that. You will need to do this every time you log in.
